TLDR Finasteride increases hair weight and count in men with hair loss.
This document is a summary of five different studies that investigated the effects of finasteride on hair weight and hair count in men with androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The studies involved a total of 1553 men who were given finasteride, 1 mg, daily for 12 months, or a placebo. The results showed that finasteride treatment led to a significant increase in hair weight and hair count compared to placebo, indicating that finasteride can be an effective treatment for AGA in men. The medication was generally well-tolerated with no subjects discontinuing the study due to adverse events.
