The Effect of GGC and CAG Repeat Polymorphisms on the Androgen Receptor Gene in Response to Finasteride Therapy in Men with Androgenetic Alopecia

    This study investigated the impact of GGC and CAG repeat polymorphisms on the androgen receptor gene in response to finasteride therapy in 25 men with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and 25 healthy controls. It found that the number of CAG repeats did not significantly affect treatment outcomes. However, a lower number of GGC sequences correlated with better clinical responses to finasteride, including stopping hair loss, new hair growth, and higher patient satisfaction. The study concluded that the number of GGC sequences could influence the effectiveness of finasteride treatment in AGA patients.
