The study "Hair Growth-Promoting Activity of Citron Seed Oil: Induction of Premature Telogen-To-Anagen Transition of Hair Follicle in C57BL/6 Mouse Models" investigated the effects of citron seed oil on hair growth in a C57BL/6 mouse model. The results showed that citron seed oil promotes hair regrowth by inducing an early transition from the telogen (resting) phase to the anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle. It also increased hair follicle density, hair bulb diameter, and skin thickness. The treatment upregulated the expression of several proteins and factors associated with hair growth, including β-catenin, lymphoid enhancer binding factor 1, sonic hedgehog, cyclin D1, cyclin E, and antiapoptotic Bcl-2 protein. It also increased the activity of alkaline phosphatase and induced the expression of insulin-like growth factor 1 and vascular endothelial growth factor. The study suggests that citron seed oil has potential for preventing or treating hair loss by inducing hair cycling and regeneration.
