TLDR Black sesame oil promotes hair growth and may prevent hair loss.
The study investigated the effect of black sesame oil on hair growth in C57BL/6 mice. Mice were divided into three groups: normal (saline), positive control (3% minoxidil), and experimental (black sesame oil). Topical application was done daily for three weeks. Both black sesame oil and minoxidil accelerated hair regrowth and promoted hair follicle development compared to the normal group. Significant increases in serum and skin enzyme activities (ALP and γ-GT) and IGF-1 expression were observed in the experimental and positive control groups. The findings suggested that black sesame oil effectively stimulated hair growth and could be used for hair growth or hair loss prevention in humans.
