TLDR Centratherum anthelminticum seed extract effectively treats Polycystic Ovary Syndrome in rats.
The study evaluated the therapeutic effect of Centratherum anthelminticum seed extract (CA) on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) in female Wistar rats. PCOS was induced in the rats using a high-fat diet and estradiol valerate, and then treated with CA at doses of 250, 500, and 750 mg/kg/day for 28 days. The results showed a significant reduction in cholesterol, triglyceride levels, and insulin resistance, and an increase in progesterone and follicle-stimulating hormone levels, indicating normalization of the estrus cycle. Inflammatory markers were also reduced in the PCOS rats treated with CA. The study concluded that CA is effective against PCOS due to its antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, antihyperlipidemic, and antioxidant properties. The study does not mention the number of rats used in the experiment.
