TLDR Botulinum toxin injections can safely increase hair count in androgenetic alopecia.
This meta-analysis and systematic review evaluated the efficacy and safety of botulinum toxin (BTX) injections for treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The review included 8 studies and found a statistically significant increase in hair count for patients treated with BTX compared to a control group, with a standardized mean difference of 1.02 and a 95% confidence interval of 0.30–1.74 (p < .05). The findings suggest that BTX injections are a promising and safe treatment option for AGA.
