TLDR Severe hair loss is linked to worse COVID-19 outcomes, especially in younger men.
The study investigated the association between androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and the severity of COVID-19 in 300 hospitalized patients. Results showed that 73.33% of the patients were male, with 80.55% of them having severe AGA. In contrast, 46% of females had AGA, with 75.68% of these cases being severe. The study found a significant correlation between the severity of AGA and worse COVID-19 outcomes, particularly in younger men without comorbidities. This suggests that anti-androgen drugs might be beneficial for COVID-19 patients.
