Interleukin-8 (IL-8), also known as CXCL8, is a type of cytokine, which is a small protein important in cell signaling. It plays a crucial role in the immune response by attracting neutrophils, a type of white blood cell, to sites of infection or inflammation. Elevated levels of IL-8 are often associated with inflammatory diseases and certain types of cancer.
