TLDR The best treatment for male pattern baldness is a combination of topical minoxidil and oral finasteride.
Male androgenetic alopecia (MAGA) was the most common form of hair loss in genetically predisposed males, characterized by a specific pattern of baldness starting from the frontal area and progressing to the vertex. The FDA approved a combination of topical minoxidil and oral finasteride for its treatment. Other treatment options included dutasteride, prostaglandin analogs, ketoconazole, laser therapy, and hair transplantation. The European Consensus Group recommended a comprehensive evaluation for diagnosis. The goal of MAGA therapy was to achieve significant hair regrowth and slow further hair loss, thereby improving patients' quality of life and self-esteem.
