Effect of Tribulus Terrestris Extract of Different Dosages on Melanocortin-1 Receptor Expression in Mouse Hair Follicles

TLDR Higher doses of Tribulus terrestris extract increase MC-1R expression in mouse hair follicles.
The study investigated the effect of different dosages of Tribulus terrestris extract on melanocortin-1 receptor (MC-1R) expression in the hair follicles of C57BL/6J mice. The results showed that higher dosages of the extract led to more pronounced expression of MC-1R in hair follicle melanocytes. The expression was observed in the cell membrane and cytoplasm of melanocytes and keratinocytes in the epidermis. The study concluded that Tribulus terrestris extract significantly increased MC-1R expression, suggesting it may enhance the biological effects of melanoma and play a regulatory role in metabolism.
