TLDR Norgalanthamine from Crinum asiaticum may help hair grow.
The study explored the effects of norgalanthamine, a compound from Crinum asiaticum, on hair growth in rat vibrissa follicles and C57BL/6 mice. It was found that a 95% ethanol extract of C. asiaticum significantly increased hair-fiber lengths in a dose-dependent manner and induced anagen phase in mice hair follicles. The extract also promoted the proliferation of dermal papilla cells, which are crucial for hair growth. Norgalanthamine specifically was shown to increase hair-fiber lengths and cell proliferation. While the study did not specify the number of subjects used, it concluded that norgalanthamine has potential as a hair growth-promoting agent due to its effects on dermal papilla cells.
