TLDR The new nitric oxide delivery system may effectively treat hair loss by improving hair follicle health and reducing inflammation.
The study presents a novel multistage transdermal nitric oxide (NO) delivery system using a poly(vinyl alcohol) film loaded with hyaluronic acid liposomes (PVA@HL/NONOate) for treating androgenic alopecia (AGA). This system aims to overcome the limitations of minoxidil by enhancing NO bioavailability, which promotes angiogenesis and improves nutrient supply to hair follicles. The HA liposomes ensure efficient NO loading and extended release, while the PVA film enhances skin penetration. Low-concentration NO was found to enhance hair follicle vitality, repair blood vessels, and reduce inflammation by modulating the HIF-1 signaling pathway and downregulating inflammatory gene expressions. This approach offers a promising alternative for AGA treatment by effectively targeting hair follicle health and reducing inflammation.

Hair loss may be caused by calcification of capillaries in the scalp, restricting blood flow to hair follicles. A daily treatment regimen including high doses of Vitamins D and K, Magnesium, and Nattokinase could potentially decalcify these capillaries, improving blood flow and hair growth. However, some users warn against excessive Vitamin D intake and emphasize the need for medical consultation.
