TLDR Thyroid receptor agonists may treat male pattern baldness without harmful side effects.

The article discusses the potential use of thyroid receptor agonists for the treatment of male pattern baldness. A novel thyromimetic, PF-00277343, has been discovered and found to be effective in stimulating hair growth in mice and monkeys after topical application, without causing systemic side effects. The use of oral thyroid hormones is impractical due to their cardiotoxicity.
