January 2021
in “Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology”

TLDR
Topical cetirizine 1% promotes hair growth in male androgenetic alopecia patients.
A case-controlled study conducted in Egypt found that topical cetirizine 1% was effective in promoting hair growth in male androgenetic alopecia patients, indicating that it could be a potential treatment option for male AGA. The study involved 60 male patients and no significant side effects were reported. The cetirizine-treated group showed significantly higher hair regrowth and patient satisfaction compared to the control group. Further randomized and controlled trials are needed to confirm these findings.
