TLDR Minoxidil dissolves better in propylene glycol + water than in supercritical CO2.
This study investigated the solubility of Minoxidil, an antihypertensive drug, in supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) under different conditions. The study found that the solubility of Minoxidil increased with pressure under isothermal conditions, and the highest and lowest solubilities were achieved at 338 K, 270 bar and 328 K, 120 bar, respectively. The study also compared the solubility of Minoxidil in different solvents and found that it was higher in propylene glycol + water binary system than in SC-CO2. The study provides important information for the development of new drug delivery systems using supercritical CO2.
