TLDR Enhancing CD8+ T cell function to induce ferroptosis in tumor cells may help treat skin melanoma.
The study analyzed the effects of sun exposure-induced ferroptosis on primary melanoma using microarray data, identifying 14 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) involved in pathways like HIF-1 signaling. It highlighted the potential of ferroptosis in early melanoma diagnosis and treatment, suggesting new therapeutic strategies for ferroptosis-based tumor immunotherapy. Key genes such as HIF1A, PTEN, and IL1B were linked to melanoma progression and drug resistance. The study also found significant associations between gene expression and tumor stage, with genes like TIMP1 and NDRG1 correlated with skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM). The research suggested enhancing CD8+ T cell function to induce ferroptosis in tumor cells as a promising therapeutic strategy and proposed several genes as molecular markers for early SKCM diagnosis. The findings provided insights into potential immunotherapy targets for SKCM treatment through ferroptosis mechanisms.
