TLDR Curcuma aeruginosa extract lotion significantly reduces underarm hair growth.
In a 2018 study, a sesquiterpene-enriched extract of Curcuma aeruginosa Roxb. (CA-ext) was shown to significantly reduce axillary hair growth in women. The study included 30 participants aged 20 to 52 who applied a lotion containing CA-ext or a placebo to their armpits twice daily for 12 weeks. The CA-ext lotion resulted in a 22% reduction in hair growth, with effects noticeable after 6 weeks, and no adverse effects were reported. The study suggests that CA-ext lotion could be an effective alternative to treatments like finasteride for unwanted androgenic hair.
