TLDR Rosemary essential oil spray can effectively increase hair density in alopecia treatment.
The study explores a film-forming spray with Salvia rosmarinus (rosemary) essential oil for treating androgenetic alopecia by enhancing hair density. Three formulations were tested: a negative control, a rosemary essential oil formulation, and a positive control with finasteride. Over 16 weeks, the rosemary spray increased capillary density similarly to finasteride, suggesting its potential effectiveness in alopecia treatment. The essential oil's major compounds were identified, and the formulations remained stable for 12 months. The spray was adhesive, transparent, and suitable for topical use without skin permeation.
