TLDR Retinoic acid reduces cell damage from oxidative stress.
The study investigated the protective effects of all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) on oxidative stress-induced damage in bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell-derived hair cells. The research focused on the impact of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as an oxidative stressor. The expression of MATH1 and SOX2 genes was analyzed using immunocytochemistry, and the apoptosis rate was assessed with acridin-orange staining. The results demonstrated that ATRA significantly reduced apoptosis in hair cell-like cells exposed to H2O2, indicating its protective role against oxidative stress damage.
