TLDR Skin stem cells can help improve skin repair and regeneration.
The document discussed the hierarchical organization and precise location of stem cell populations in the skin, which is composed of the epidermis and dermis. Epidermal stem cells, located in the upper part of hair follicles, generate interfollicular epidermis, hair, and sebaceous glands, while mesenchymal cells associated with blood vessels in the dermis are the primary source of dermal components. Additionally, exogenous skin cells like melanocytes and dermal papilla cells have their own stem cells. The study highlighted the potential of cell therapies and bioengineered skin surrogates to improve skin regeneration, offering promising solutions for rapid and efficient skin repair.
