TLDR PRP therapy helps slow hair loss and increases hair thickness.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a treatment for hair loss that contains growth factors believed to increase hair density and improve the anagen:telogen ratio. Although there are few placebo-controlled, randomized control trials published, most clinical trials demonstrate a positive impact after PRP, ranging from a slowing of hair loss to thickening of existing hair follicles and hair density. PRP is a safe monotherapy or adjunct to other hair loss treatments, but more research is needed to determine the optimal PRP preparation and treatment protocol.
