TLDR Delonix polymeric nanoparticles with isotretinoin effectively treat acne by targeting hair follicles and reducing skin irritation.
The study developed isotretinoin-loaded Delonix (IST-DLX) polymeric nanoparticles to improve acne treatment by targeting hair follicles and reducing skin irritation. The DLX polymer, derived from Delonix regia seeds, was characterized and used to create nanoparticles with a size of 215-232 nm and encapsulation efficiency over 25%. These nanoparticles sustained IST release, with 37% released in 48 hours, and showed targeted accumulation in hair follicles. In vitro and in vivo tests demonstrated that IST-DLX nanoparticles reduced IL-6 production in macrophage cells and prevented inflammatory erythema in Wistar rats, unlike free IST. The findings suggested that DLX polymer could be a promising drug delivery system for acne treatment.

Isotretinoin and tretinoin are different; isotretinoin can cause hair loss and has more side effects. Tretinoin may affect minoxidil absorption, and users suggest waiting before applying minoxidil.

A user is experiencing significant hair loss and scalp issues despite using Minoxidil, finasteride, and RU58841 since 2017. They switched to oral Minoxidil and are now on isotretinoin and topical corticosteroids for seborrheic dermatitis but continue to lose hair and seek advice on whether inflammation or treatment changes are the cause.
