TLDR PRP injections can effectively and safely treat alopecia areata.
A 46-year-old patient with extensive patchy alopecia areata (AA) was successfully treated with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) through three monthly applications. The treatment's effectiveness was evaluated using clinical photography, quantitative scalp hair assessment, digital trichoscopy, and quality of life measures. The results indicated that PRP injections are a relatively effective, safe, low-pain, and minimally invasive treatment method for alopecia areata.
