TLDR Paeonol-loaded gels may help reduce inflammation and skin damage in atopic dermatitis.
The study investigates paeonol-loaded liposomes in thermoreversible gels (PAE-L-G) for treating atopic dermatitis (AD), highlighting their potential as an alternative to traditional treatments. The encapsulation of paeonol in liposomes improved solubility and delayed release, while the thermoreversible gels enhanced skin delivery and retention. In AD-like mice, PAE-L-G alleviated skin damage, reduced inflammation, and showed superior antioxidant capacity compared to dexamethasone. The formulation demonstrated significant improvements in skin conditions, reduced lesion severity, and decreased scratching behavior, suggesting its promise for AD treatment with both topical and systemic benefits.
