2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl, commonly known as DPPH, is a stable free radical used in scientific research to measure the antioxidant capacity of substances. When antioxidants are present, they can neutralize the DPPH radical, causing a color change that can be quantitatively measured, making it a useful tool for evaluating the effectiveness of potential antioxidant compounds.
