TLDR The new gel for psoriasis is effective, stable, and easy to apply.
The study developed and evaluated a solid lipid nanoparticle (SLN) based topical gel for psoriasis treatment, incorporating tacrolimus and finasteride to enhance drug delivery and efficacy. The optimized formulation (F4) showed excellent spreadability, extrudability, and high drug release (98.68% in 6 hours). Stability studies indicated no significant changes over 90 days, and ex-vivo permeation studies suggested potential human application. The F4 gel demonstrated good homogeneity, stability, and no skin irritation in rabbits, making it a promising non-greasy, easy-to-apply alternative to traditional psoriasis treatments.
