TLDR Phospholipid soft vesicles improve topical drug delivery for better skin condition treatments.
This review discussed the use of phospholipid soft vesicles as carriers for topical drug delivery to treat various skin conditions, including hair loss. These carriers offered advantages such as increased patient compliance and bypassing the first-pass effect of oral administration. The vesicles, which included ethosomes, glycerosomes, and transethosomes, were designed to penetrate deep skin layers by fluidizing phospholipid bilayers. The review covered numerous studies conducted in vitro, in vivo, and in human clinical trials, demonstrating the potential of these vesicles to enhance drug delivery and improve treatment outcomes for conditions like skin infections, inflammation, psoriasis, skin cancer, acne, and skin aging.
