Tacrolimus is an immunosuppressive medication commonly used to prevent organ transplant rejection and to treat certain skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. It works by inhibiting the activity of T-cells, which are part of the immune system, thereby reducing inflammation and immune responses. In dermatology, it is often available as a topical ointment under the brand name Protopic.
