TLDR A new method accurately measures finasteride levels in human plasma.
The study developed a rapid and reliable method using high-performance liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry to measure finasteride levels in human plasma. The method, which involved protein precipitation and a specific column and mobile phase, demonstrated a linear calibration curve from 0.1 to 60 ng/mL and a quantification limit of 0.1 ng/mL. Precision and accuracy were within acceptable ranges. This method was applied to a pharmacokinetic study with 12 healthy volunteers who received a 5 mg oral dose of finasteride.
