TLDR The method accurately measures finasteride in human plasma quickly and reliably.
The study established a method for determining finasteride in human plasma using HPLC-APCI-MS. The process involved alkalizing plasma with sodium hydroxide, extracting with ether, and using a Diamonsil C18 column for HPLC separation. The method demonstrated no endogenous interference, with a linear range of 1-128 ng/mL for finasteride and high recovery rates of 98.5%-101.7%. The analysis was completed in 6.5 minutes, with intra-day and inter-day RSDs below 3.3% and 7.6%, respectively. The method was concluded to be convenient, specific, accurate, and sensitive for pharmacokinetic studies of finasteride in human plasma.
