TLDR Yonnyuniksoogobon-dan taken orally promotes hair growth by affecting growth factors in hair roots.
In 2008, a study was conducted to assess the hair growth promoting effects of Yonnyuniksoogobon-dan on C57BL/6 mice. The mice were divided into a control group, Group I (oral administration), and Group II (oral and topical administration). Results showed that both treatment groups experienced significant hair regrowth compared to the control, with Group I showing a significant increase in hair regrowth index from day 7 to day 12, and Group II showing a significant increase at day 12. Histological analysis indicated an increase in the number and diameter of hair follicles in treated groups. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed increased expression of EGF and VEGF, and decreased expression of iNOS in the treatment groups, while TGF-ß1 expression was unchanged. The study concluded that Yonnyuniksoogobon-dan promotes hair growth by regulating growth and vascular factors in hair roots, but topical application alone was not effective, suggesting the need for further research on topical formulations.
