TLDR Yonnyuniksoogobon-dan, an herbal mix, was found to promote hair growth in mice.
Fourteen years ago, a study was conducted to evaluate the hair growth promoting effect of Yonnyuniksoogobon-dan, a mixture of 11 herbs, on shaved C57BL/6 mice. The treatment was administered orally (Sample I) and both orally and topically (Sample II) once a day for 12 days. The results showed that both Sample I and Sample II groups demonstrated accelerated hair regrowth, with significant increases in the hair regrowth index from 7 to 12 days after shaving. Histological observations showed improvements and increases in the number and diameter of hair follicles in both groups. The study concluded that Yonnyuniksoogobon-dan promotes hair growth, which is related to the up-regulation of EGF and VEGF expressions and down-regulation of TGF-β1 and iNOS expressions on hair roots.
