TLDR Finasteride metabolites found in pigs match human studies, making pigs a valid model for human drug research.
This study investigated the metabolite profile of finasteride in pig plasma, urine, and bile using high-resolution mass spectrometry. The study found that the pig formed the phase I metabolites MX and MY and their glucuronides, which is consistent with previous human studies. The study also provided insight into the CYP enzymes involved in the formation of MX and MY, with human recombinant CYP3A4 producing both metabolites and CYP2D6 producing a metabolite similar to MY. The study concludes that the pig is a valid in vivo model for human drug studies.

community Oral Minoxidil and Grapefruit Juice

      in Research/Science  96 upvotes 1 year ago
The conversation is about the potential dangers of taking oral minoxidil and grapefruit juice together. Some users express concern about dangerous drug interactions, while others argue that grapefruit juice may inhibit the metabolism of finasteride. The conclusion is that grapefruit juice may make finasteride less effective, but it won't affect minoxidil.
