TLDR Suruhan extract made rabbit hair grow longer but didn't increase hair thickness.
In 2017, a study was conducted on four healthy male rabbits to investigate the effects of ethanolic plant extract of suruhan, or Peperomia pellucida, on hair growth. The rabbits' shaved skin was treated with varying concentrations of suruhan extracts (25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%) twice daily for 21 days. The results showed that the suruhan extract significantly increased the length of the rabbits' hair in a concentration-related manner. However, compared to both negative and positive controls, the suruhan plant extracts had no significant effect on the hair mass of the animals. This suggests that the ethanolic plant extract of Peperomia pellucida has potential to be used in topical formulations for hair growth.
