Potency of Leaf Extracts of Cocor Bebek (Kalanchoe Pinnata) as Hair-Growth Promoting Agent

The study conducted by Yulianty in 2018 investigated the potential of leaf extracts of Cocor Bebek (Kalanchoe pinnata) as a hair growth promoting agent. The experiment involved four healthy adult male New Zealand rabbits, aged 4-5 months, weighing 1.5 kg – 2 kg. The rabbits' dorsal aspect was shaved and divided into six areas, each treated with different substances including Cocor Bebek extract at varying concentrations and minoxidil as a positive control. The results showed that the leaf extracts of K. pinnata significantly increased hair length in a concentration-related manner, even surpassing the effects of minoxidil at the highest concentration. However, no treatment was found to affect the hair mass of the animals. The study concluded that Cocor Bebek extract has potential as a hair growth promoting agent.
