TLDR The hair tonic with menthol grew longer hair, but both formulas had similar overall hair growth.
This study investigated the hair growth-stimulating activity of a hair tonic made from the ethyl acetate fraction of meniran (Phyllanthus niruri L.) on male Wistar rats. The study compared two formulas: one with and one without a menthol enhancer. Hair length was measured on days 7, 14, and 21, and hair weight was measured on day 21. Results indicated that the formula with menthol (formula 2) resulted in longer hair, while the formula without menthol (formula 1) resulted in heavier hair. However, statistical analysis showed no significant difference between the two formulas in terms of hair growth.

Minoxidil may improve or worsen skin quality, with topical forms causing dryness and wrinkles, possibly due to alcohol content, while oral forms have fewer side effects. Some users consider using tretinoin to mitigate negative effects.
