TLDR Combining PRP with micro-needling improves hair growth and thickness in treating hair loss.
This literature review evaluates the efficacy and safety of combining platelet-rich plasma (PRP) with micro-needling for treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The systematic review and meta-analysis included 12 studies with a total of 546 participants. The results indicate that this combination therapy significantly improves hair density, with a mean difference of 18.9 hairs/cm², and hair thickness. The treatment is well-tolerated, but the authors call for further large-scale, high-quality trials to confirm these findings and establish standardized treatment protocols.

The conversation is about someone considering a hair transplant due to ineffective hair loss treatments, with suggestions ranging from trying a hairpiece to continuing with medications like finasteride and minoxidil, and waiting for new treatments. Some advise against a transplant due to the extent of hair loss and the cost, while others share different views on the effectiveness of transplants and non-surgical options.
