TLDR Specific genes influence hair and cashmere growth in Laiwu black goats.
In this study, microarray technology was used to identify 655 differentially expressed genes in the hair-growing and hairless skin of the Laiwu black goat, revealing their potential roles in hair and cashmere growth. Genes associated with hair growth were linked to various cellular components and binding activities. Upregulated genes in hair-growing skin had common promoter motifs for nuclear factor 1A, Yi, E2F, and CREB/CREBβ, while downregulated genes had motifs for LF-A1, Yi, E2F, and others. These findings highlighted specific molecules in cashmere-bearing skin that may influence hair and cashmere traits.
