TLDR The new finasteride delivery system using chitosan-based nanoniosomes shows promise for prostate cancer prevention.
The study successfully developed and characterized a novel micellar/niosome vesicular nano-formulation for delivering finasteride (FIN) nanoparticles in oral drug delivery systems. The formulation involved the use of chitosan, tween 80, squalene, and span 85, and was optimized for enhanced drug solubility and stability. FT-IR analysis indicated the involvement of the carbonyl group in complex formation, and UV-Vis absorption spectra confirmed the successful encapsulation of FIN. This nano-formulation shows promise for improving the therapeutic effectiveness of FIN by enhancing its solubility and stability.
