TLDR The method measures finasteride accurately and cheaply using UV light.
The document from 2011 detailed a UV spectrophotometric method for measuring finasteride in both bulk and tablet forms, which was found to be simple, quick, accurate, and cost-effective. Finasteride was dissolved in chloroform and its absorbance was measured at 245 nm, with a demonstrated linearity in the 10 – 120 μg/ml concentration range and a high correlation coefficient of 0.9993. The method's precision and accuracy were confirmed by a relative standard deviation of 0.2319 and recovery studies, which showed percentage recoveries ranging from 99.09% to 99.92%. This method was validated for routine use and was not affected by the presence of excipients and additives in pharmaceutical formulations.
