TLDR Centella asiatica extract may help promote hair growth.
The study investigated the effects of Centella asiatica Linn. (C. asiatica) extract on human hair follicle dermal papilla cells, focusing on its antioxidant properties and potential to promote hair growth. The ethanol (EtOH) crude extract and water (H₂O) fraction were non-toxic and promoted cell viability. The EtOH crude extract significantly induced VEGF gene expression, which is associated with hair growth stimulation. These findings suggested that the EtOH crude extract of C. asiatica could be a promising ingredient for hair growth-promoting products.
