TLDR Methotrexate alone is as effective and safe as combining it with prednisolone for treating Lichen planopilaris.
This randomized clinical trial compared the efficacy of methotrexate alone versus a combination of methotrexate and prednisolone in treating Lichen planopilaris (LPP) in 28 patients, with 24 completing the study. Both groups showed a decrease in the Lichen planopilaris activity index (LPPAI) score over the follow-up period, with no statistically significant difference between the two groups. Additionally, no differences were observed in symptoms or photographic assessments, and both groups reported only one adverse effect each. The study concluded that methotrexate therapy, whether combined with corticosteroids or not, had similar efficacy and safety.
