TLDR Finasteride effectively treats hair loss in men with minimal side effects.
Multiple clinical studies have found that finasteride is an effective treatment for androgenetic alopecia in men. Finasteride works by inhibiting the enzyme that converts testosterone to DHT, which is associated with hair loss. Studies have shown that finasteride can slow hair loss, promote hair growth, and is generally well-tolerated with minimal side effects. The studies followed various numbers of patients for different periods of time, but all concluded that finasteride is a promising treatment option for androgenetic alopecia.
