TLDR Cinnamic acid may help hair grow by activating oxytocin receptors.
The research investigated the impact of cinnamic acid, a component of Cinnamomum cassia, on hair growth. It was found that cinnamic acid increased the expression of oxytocin receptor (OXTR) and hair growth-related genes in dermal papilla (DP) cells. In an in vitro hair follicle growth model, cinnamic acid promoted hair growth, with a dose-dependent increase in OXTR and hair growth-related genes expression at concentrations below 500 µg/mL. The study also demonstrated that cinnamic acid promotes the elongation of hair peg-like sprouting in hair follicle organoids via oxytocin receptor activation. These findings suggest the potential use of cinnamic acid in treating hair loss, but further research is required to confirm these results and assess the efficacy of cinnamic acid in patients with multiple alopecias.

Low oxytocin levels in hair are linked to reduced empathy and may affect hair growth. Cinnamic acid can promote hair growth by activating oxytocin receptors.

Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) is debated for hair regrowth, with some users suggesting it should be combined with treatments like minoxidil and finasteride for effectiveness. Many users express skepticism about LLLT's efficacy and cost, emphasizing the need for the correct wavelength and quality devices.
