TLDR The Cashmere goat hair keratin gene is crucial for hair structure.
The study focused on the sequencing and expression analysis of a type I hair keratin gene from Cashmere goats. Researchers isolated and sequenced a cDNA from goat skin, identifying it as the goat hair keratin gHa1 cDNA. The 413 amino acid sequence showed a high homology of 97.8% with the Sheep 8C1 type I mRNA. In situ hybridization demonstrated strong expression of this keratin in the cortex of both primary and secondary hair follicles, indicating its significant role in hair structure.
