TLDR CBD may increase hair growth, but the right concentration is crucial and more research is needed.
The review article explores the impact of cannabinoid products on hair growth, highlighting that while cannabidiol (CBD) may promote hair growth, other phytocannabinoids could lead to hair loss. The effect of CBD is concentration-dependent, with high concentrations (≥10 μM) potentially causing hair loss. A trial involving 35 Caucasian patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) showed that a once-daily application of a CBD-rich topical cannabis extract for 6 months increased nonvellus hair count by approximately 93.5%. The study emphasizes the need for further research to determine the optimal concentration of CBD and ensure the safety and efficacy of topical cannabinoid preparations.
