TLDR CBD-rich hemp oil can significantly increase hair regrowth in people with common hair loss, with no reported side effects.
The study "Hair Regrowth with Cannabidiol (CBD)-rich Hemp Extract – A Case Series" conducted by Gregory Smith and John Satino, investigated the effects of Cannabidiol (CBD) on Androgenetic alopecia (AGA), the most common cause of hair loss. The study involved 35 subjects with AGA who applied a topical hemp oil formulation containing about 3-4 mg of CBD daily for six months. The results showed a statistically significant 93.5% increase in hair after 6 months, with all subjects experiencing some regrowth. Men and the vertex area of the scalp showed slightly better results than women and the temporal areas. No adverse effects were reported. The study suggests that CBD, which works through mechanisms different from current hair loss drugs, could potentially be used in conjunction with these drugs for enhanced effects.
