TLDR Celery extract and candlenut oil effectively and safely boost hair growth.
This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of aerosol formulations containing celery extract and candlenut oil for hair growth stimulation. The formulations were tested at concentrations of 0.1%, 0.5%, and 1% on rabbits. The main fatty acids in candlenut oil were oleic, linoleic, and palmitic acids, while celery extract contained significant amounts of flavonoids and phenolic compounds. The skin irritation test showed no adverse effects, with a primary irritation index of 0.0. The treatment groups showed a significant increase in hair growth compared to the control, with the 1% concentration exhibiting the highest growth rate of 0.64 mm/day. These findings suggest that the combination of celery extract and candlenut oil is an effective and safe natural alternative for treating alopecia.

The conversation discusses the potential of long-chain unsaturated fatty acids, like oleic and linoleic acid, as an additional treatment for hair loss, which may inhibit the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone to DHT and promote hair growth. Users humorously suggest using oils topically and discuss other hair loss treatments, but the main focus is on the science behind fatty acids and their role in hair health.
