TLDR Candlenut oil hair tonic helps mice grow hair, with higher oil concentration giving better results.
The study investigated the effect of hair tonic nanoemulsions with varying concentrations of candlenut oil on hair growth in mice (Mus musculus). The nanoemulsions were prepared with 5%, 6%, and 7% candlenut oil, labeled as formula 1, formula 2, and formula 3, respectively. A base without candlenut oil served as a negative control, while a commercially available ginseng hair tonic was the positive control. After 21 days, the results showed that the hair growth for the negative control was -0.442 mm, the positive control was 2.255 mm, formula 1 was 1.352 mm, formula 2 was 1.773 mm, and formula 3 was 3.649 mm. Hair weight measurements were 3.20 mg for the negative control, 2.22 mg for the positive control, 2.26 mg for formula 1, 4.54 mg for formula 2, and 6.70 mg for formula 3. The findings indicate that the hair tonic nanoemulsion with candlenut oil can promote hair growth, with the highest concentration (7% candlenut oil) showing the most significant effect.

The conversation discusses the potential of long-chain unsaturated fatty acids, like oleic and linoleic acid, as an additional treatment for hair loss, which may inhibit the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone to DHT and promote hair growth. Users humorously suggest using oils topically and discuss other hair loss treatments, but the main focus is on the science behind fatty acids and their role in hair health.
