TLDR β1 integrin is essential for the survival, growth, and movement of human epithelial progenitor cells.
The study investigated the role of β1 integrin signaling in maintaining the survival of human epithelial progenitor cells in situ and its effects on the proliferation, apoptosis, and migration of their progeny. The findings indicated that β1 integrin was crucial for the survival of these progenitor cells and played a significant role in regulating their behavior, including promoting cell proliferation, inhibiting apoptosis, and facilitating cell migration. This highlighted the importance of β1 integrin in tissue homeostasis and repair.
